Plug guide for Europe

Most of Europe runs on 220–240 V at 50 Hz. The dominant plug shapes are Type C (Europlug, two round pins) and Type F (Schuko, used widely in Germany and Eastern Europe), with Type E covering France/Belgium/Poland, Type G in the UK and Ireland, and a handful of national exceptions (Type J in Switzerland, Type K in Denmark, Type L in Italy). Travelers within mainland Europe rarely need a voltage converter — only a Schuko/Type E or UK adapter when crossing into Britain, Ireland or Malta.
